Iain Andrew Turnbull Memorial Award
Disease tragically cut short Iain’s own artistic career: this Fund is the result of a desire on the part of Iain’s family and his former partner Jennifer Lowrey to perpetuate his memory in a way that will assist future printmaking students at Queensland College of Art in furthering their own artistic practice.
The initial award was made in respect of the 2011 academic year, the joint recipients being Liana Evans and Jessica Row. From 2012 onwards it was decided that a short list of candidates would be selected for personal interview and a sole recipient chosen to receive the award.
Award Winners' Honour Roll
To highlight the talents and achievements of each of the Award winners we will be creating a website page outlining their career to date with an associated gallery featuring a representative range of their artwork.
These will be progressively updated to reflect their future careers and achievements in the art world.
As these pages are set up they may be accessed by clicking on the highlighted links in the Honour Roll
The award currently has an annual value of approximately $ 1,500 - $ 2,000 but it is hoped that future donations from Iain’s former friends and colleagues, from Griffith University alumni interested in the arts and from the public may enable the award's value to be increased substantially over time.
Your donation would not only assist many future printmakers in their careers, but would also help to attract the best possible students to the QCA’s printmaking programs.
